MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – It is important and timely for the CIS member states to discuss biosecurity. This was stressed during an online meeting of the group of experts responsible for harmonizing the draft statement of the CIS heads of state on cooperation in ensuring biosecurity that took place on 20 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
Taking part in the meeting were representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the CIS Executive Committee.
The experts backed Russia's proposal to draft the statement and harmonized the document after discussing the member states' comments and proposals.
The participants of the meeting decided to continue working on the statement. The experts will convene again in May-June to finalize the document.
