MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) – The CIS disarmament commission held a meeting at the CIS headquarters in Minsk on 1 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the CIS Executive Committee. The members of the commission considered various aspects of the review process of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and discussed the main outcomes of the 10th Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference. It was noted that despite tremendous challenges befalling the non-proliferation regime recently, the treaty remains one of the pillars of the international security architecture and the non-proliferation regime.

The CIS disarmament commission is set to hold another meeting in Moscow in December.
