MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) - The CIS headquarters hosted a meeting of the expert group to finalize the draft agreement on joint exercises of the units of border and other agencies of the CIS member states on the settlement (elimination) of crisis situations at the external borders and the appropriate resolutions issued by the CIS Ministerial Council, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by plenipotentiary representatives and experts from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, the Coordination Service of the Council of Border Troops Commanders and the CIS Executive Committee (via videoconference).
Taking into account the remarks and proposals from the CIS states, the experts finalized the draft documents and recommended the CIS Executive Committee to submit them to the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
The agreement was sponsored by the CIS Council of Border Troops Commanders. Its purpose is to prepare the command bodies and units of border and other agencies included in the task-forces, in accordance with national cooperation plans, for joint actions in the emergence and settlement (elimination) of crisis situations on the CIS external borders.
It is assumed that the joint exercises will help improve planning, operation and and command of units, hone practical skills of the participants in the exercises in developing common approaches to the use of effective forms and methods of action and increase the level of coherence of government bodies.
