Chinese tourists interested in Belarus' culture, history

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Tourists from China are interested in learning more about the culture and history of Belarus. Chen Weiwei, Councilor and Press Officer of the Embassy of China in Belarus, made the relevant statement during the presentation of the China-Belarus Year of Tourism campaign on 4 May, BelTA has learned. The presentation was held as part of the 22nd international expo Mass Media in Belarus. The presentation was arranged by the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA).

According to the diplomat, in Belarus Chinese tourists are attracted to the castles in Nesvizh and Mir, to the beautiful nature, primarily the national park Belovezhskaya Pushcha, and to local lakes. They also take a strong interest in places of interest of military and patriotic nature such as the WW2 memorial Khatyn and the historical and cultural complex Stalin's Line.

Since a Belarusian culture center has been opened in Beijing, Chinese citizens can now get detailed information about Belarus. It can increase the demand for tourism services.

Belarus-China cooperation in tourism gradually gains pace. Events of the Year of Tourism of Belarus in China and events of the Year of Tourism of China in Belarus will help with that, the diplomat was convinced. “Cooperation in tourism helps develop the domestic economy of both countries and will help bring the nations closer to each other. It is a bridge that connects Belarus and China,” said Chen Weiwei.
