Center for Belarusian Studies opens in China

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – Belarus' Year of Education in China was officially launched in a ceremony at Dalian Polytechnic University, Liaoning Province on 10 January, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in China.

During the event, Belarus Education Minister Igor Karpenko and Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun of China inaugurated the Center for Belarusian Studies at the university. The minister met with the Belarusian students studying in Liaoning Province, and gave the center methodological literature and Belarusian national emblems.

During the ceremony educational institutions of Belarus and China signed documents on cooperation. After the official events, the participants visited a photo exhibition dedicated to Belarus.

The university also held a conference on the prospects for the development of Belarusian-Chinese relations in education.

Igor Karpenko and Belarusian Ambassador to China Kirill Rudy held talks with senior officials of China's Ministry of Education and Liaoning Province. The parties discussed a plan of action for the Year of Education, the agenda of the next meeting of the joint commission on education in Belarus in May, and the ways of promoting cooperation between Liaoning Province and Brest Oblast.
