Call to strengthen Belarus' independence, prosperity

MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) - Independence and prosperity do not fall from the sky. We need to work on them every day, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas told the media as he attended the Independence Day celebrations at the Victory Monument in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

This holiday, according to him, should be dedicated to the memory of those who defended the Fatherland in the hardest years of the Great Patriotic War.

“The fact that we have gathered here today to pay tribute to the fallen warriors is very right. I believe that on this day we need, first of all, to remember those who defended the independence of the country and who strengthened its," Stanislav Zas noted.

The theme of preserving the memory, educating the younger generation in the glorious traditions of the victorious past does not lose relevance with years. “People very quickly get used to good things (in any country), to working quietly, raising children. This is how it should be. But we should not forget that these things come at a cost. They do not fall from the sky. We need to work on this every day, to strengthen our independence,” the CSTO secretary general noted.
