Call for better coordination of coronavirus containment plans in Belarus, Russia

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas suggested better coordination of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the Belarus-Russia Union State as he met with State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota on 24 March, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Rumas suggested discussing the date and the agenda of the forthcoming session of the Union State Council of Ministers. “We have many questions. We have not convened for a long time. Therefore, we need to compare notes,” the premier said.

The tentative agenda of the session features 19 issues, however, it might be expanded, Grigory Rapota said.

“The coronavirus pandemic affected our plans, therefore we need to know your opinion regarding a possibility to meet in person to discuss various matters,” the head of government added. The Belarusian side would like to include a number of points in the agenda.

“I believe it would be right to better coordinate our actions in this situation [related to coronavirus],” Sergei Rumas said.
