Brest to host international tourism forum in April

BREST, 23 December (BelTA) – We will hold a forum dedicated to tourism on the sidelines of the 5th International B2B Contact Fair BREST 2020 on 24-25 April 2020, Denis Nikitiuk, Head of Tourism at the Sports Directorate of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, told BelTA.

Tourism has been gaining momentum in the south-west region of Belarus. The local authorities have decided to put the spotlight on this topic by organizing a relevant forum. The Brest regional administration has already started developing the program of the upcoming events. “Our region has been doing well in tourism, posting one of the country's highest results in the growth in the export of travel services. The introduction of Brest into the expanded visa-free entry zone according to Decree No.300 is offering even broader horizons for the industry. Upon our foreign partners' requests, we will provide them with a platform for interaction with the Belarusian travel industry and conduct numerous business meetings in the course of the forum”, said Denis Nikitiuk.

The authorities are planning to organize presentations of tourist attractions in the cities and neighborhoods of Brest Oblast, as well as arrange a series of workshops and negotiations. Representatives of regional administrations and foreign travel companies, primarily from Poland, Lithuania and Russia, are invited to attend the event.

This year, Brest Oblast expects to receive around 1 million tourists (domestic tourism included), up 20% over 2018. Around 35,000 visa-free travelers have visited the region since the beginning of the year. Their number has doubled compared to the same period of last year.
