BREST, 12 February (BelTA) – Brest is planning to host the first international cyberfest in May 2020, Brest First Vice Mayor Vadim Kravchuk told BelTA.
“Brest Mayor Aleksandr Rogachuk has set a goal to pay more attention to two aspects: the IT and tourism. There is a lot to be done and many interesting projects to be implemented,” Vadim Kravchuk said.
Thus, the cyberfest may be held in the spring. One of the city educational institutions will host it. The event has drawn the attention of the Brest Science and Technology Park, the universities of the city, the Belarusian Cybersport Federation. Experts are ready to help with choosing disciplines (for example, FIFA, Dota, WoT). The federation has agreed to provide the necessary tools, including professional screens and computers.
The festival will have different zones, for instance, for cyberdisciplines, on-line chess, and robotics. “We count on our sister cities as we are compiling a quest list. We have preliminary agreements with Polish and Slovakian partners. Representatives of Russia and the Baltic countries have expressed interest too. The organizers are in talks with Israeli and German partners. We will also send mass emails to attract cyberteams,” the first vice mayor noted.
Brest is working on the event programs for citizens and guests of the city. For example, the city is considering food festivals, family and knight festivals, an orchestra parade, and a flower festival. There is an idea to arrange an international vintage cars festival.
“The traditional routes in Brest are well-known. Now we need to introduce new destinations to attract tourists. The festivals all over the city will contribute to it,” Vadim Kravchuk added.
