BREST, 5 September (BelTA) – The Brest Oblast Tourist Information Center is to open in Warsaw this autumn, BelTA learned from head of the tourism section of the sport and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Denis Nikityuk.
The project is implemented by one of Brest tour operators. This center is designed to inform Polish residents and nationals of other countries about tourist attractions of Brest Oblast and Belarus in general, the visa-free program and forthcoming events. The center will be located in Warsaw downtown. The facility is expected to open in November. The info center might also operate a hot line.
There are plans to print brochures about tourist attractions of Brest Oblast. These brochures are to be distributed in the biggest shopping malls, gas stations, insurance companies, cafes and restaurants. The partners are discussing other cooperation avenues.
“This is part of the marketing strategy to draw tourists to our region. We have also introduced an online chat on the website bezvizbrest.by. This option will facilitate communication between the website users and specialists of the tourism sector,” Denis Nikityuk noted. The sport and tourism department in cooperation with the Belarusian Embassy in Warsaw will arrange two promo tours across Brest Oblast for Polish tour operators and journalists in late October- early November. Simultaneously, travel opportunities of Brest Oblast will be presented at specialized exhibitions in the Polish capital.
Since the start of the year, Brest Oblast has welcomed about 11,000 tourists from 60 countries who took advantage of the visa-waiver program. Most of the travelers came from Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Czechia, the Netherlands, Denmark, Great Britain, the United States and Romania. Tourist arrivals reached their peak in late July-August, when over 3,000 foreigners visited Brest and the surrounding area. The average period of stay was four days.
