Brest Oblast to launch local travel website

BREST, 16 October (BelTA) - The website “Brest Oblast: tourism, holidays, entertainment” will be launched by the end of this year, Denis Nikityuk, head of the tourism office of the sport and tourism department at the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, told BelTA.

Travel opportunities of Brest Oblast will be described in detail at www.bresttravel.by. Now it is working in a test mode, being filled with the content in the Russian language. When the website is up and running, it will be be translated into Belarusian, English, Polish, German and Lithuanian.

The website will tell about cities and districts, attractions, accommodation and catering facilities, medical spas and eco-agro facilities, tourist routes. A separate section will be dedicated to visa-free entry to Brest Oblast. The website will also feature a calendar of tourist events, an online map of key attractions, photos and videos about the region.

“The website will primarily target foreign travelers, primarily from Poland, Germany, Russia, and Lithuania. Belarusians will also find it useful as they will learn more about the possibilities of traveling around Brest Oblast,” Denis Nikityuk believes. “In addition to general information about the region, we will post links to calendars of key events in major regional cities such as Brest, Baranovich and Pinsk.”

Since the beginning of the year, Brest Oblast has welcomed more than 200,000 visitors. More than 25,000 of them took advantage of the visa-free entry. Most of visitors came from Poland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and the Netherlands. On average, tourists stay for three or more days in the region.
