Brest Millennium festival draws 3,000 participants

BREST, 14 March (BelTA) – The international multi-genre festival-competition Millennium kicked off in Brest on 14 March, BelTA has learned.

The event has drawn around 3,000 representatives of Belarus, Russia, Moldova, and Poland. The major events of the festival will be running in the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions till 17 March. The contestants will compete in vocal, choreographic, instrumental, theatrical and visual arts. Winners of the festival will get money prizes and awards. The absolute winner will be gifted with an LCD television.

The program of the festival also includes an exhibition of young artists' works, art workshops, entertainment zones, and an automobile show.

Brest Mayor Alexander Rogachuk opened the Millennium festival. He noted that Brest hosts such an event for the first time and expressed hope that guests and participants will enjoy the festival. Svetlana Semashko, head of the culture department of the Brest city administration, believes that the festival will enrich Brest's cultural life and help find young talents.

The Millennium festival is organized with the support of the Brest city authorities. It is part of the program of events to celebrate the millennium of Brest.
