Bishkek to host next CIS summit in October 2023

ASTANA, 14 October (BelTA) - The next meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council will be held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, which will chair the CIS next year, on 13 October 2023. This decision was made at the CIS summit in Astana, BelTA has learned.

In accordance with the rotation, in 2023 the chairmanship in the CIS goes over to Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan and Moldova were supposed to co-chair with Kyrgyzstan next year, Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev explained at the summit. "However, due to the fact that the Republic of Moldova refrains from co-chairing the CIS next year (we received a corresponding note), a proposal has been made to suggest the co-chairmanship to the Republic of Kazakhstan and to the Russian Federation in 2023," Sergei Lebedev noted. The heads of state did not object.

The heads of state also decided that the next meeting of the CIS summit will be held in Bishkek on 13 October 2023.
