Big Atlas of Belarus' History to be presented at international expos

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – A four-volume edition of the Big Atlas of Belarus' History is to be presented at international book fairs, head of the publishing and printing department of the Information Ministry Yelena Pavlova told reporters during a solemn ceremony to present the publication on 21 November , BelTA has learned.

“The Big Atlas of Belarus' History is a remarkable, unique project. The edition will be one of the best specimens of the Belarusian book publishing industry. The project is outstanding in terms of its content and design. I think the atlas should take part in the Art of Book national contest in January 2019 and in the Art of Book international contest of the CIS states, because this edition is very likely to get awards. Naturally, we invite the authors of the atlas with their presentation to take part in the country's biggest book forum – 26th Minsk International Book Fair that will be held on 6-10 February 2019,” Yelena Pavlova said.

The Big Atlas of Belarus' History is the first unique collection of maps that provides a detailed account of the Belarusian history. The atlas was compiled as a result of tremendous joint work of Belarusian researchers and cartographers.

The bulk of work to create and publish the atlas was done by the Belcartographia organization of the State Property Committee. A great contribution was made by researchers of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences, Belarusian State University, specialists of the Belarusian Research Center for Electronic Paperwork, other state-run organizations and agencies.
