MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belavia, Belarusian national air carrier, will start flying from Minsk to Vienna in 2020. The matter was discussed at the meeting of Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Belarus Aloisia Worgetter, BelTA learned from the press service of the Transport and Communications Ministry.
At present Vienna-Minsk-Vienna flights are operated by Austrian Airlines. Belavia also decided to start flying to Vienna in 2020.
Thus, flights between Minsk and Vienna will be available 14 times a week; each airline will operate seven flights in line with the current agreements between the aviation authorities of Belarus and Austria.
According to Belavia, the launch of its own flights to Vienna will help boost the export of services and implement a flexible tariff policy, which will make this offer more attractive to customers. This will also help increase the number of connecting flights in Minsk thus winning more transit passengers for Belavia.
In addition to that, the aviation authorities of the two countries will discuss a possibility to increase the number of Minsk-Vienna-Minsk flights on the sidelines of the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event 2019 due in Jordan on 2-6 December.
“We seek to scale up our cooperation. This is one of the priority matters,” Aleksei Avramenko said.
The parties also discussed cooperation in road haulage, in particular, a possibility to grant more permits for Belarusian forwarders in 2019.
