Belarusian young people invited to take part in UPU's letter-writing competition

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – Belarusians are invited to take part in the International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People of the Universal Postal Union, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian postal service Belpochta.

This year's theme is to "write a letter to a family member about your experience with COVID.19". Students under the age of 15 can participate in the competition.

The letter should be written by hand in Russian or Belarusian and correspond to the stated theme. Illustrations are welcome. The text should not exceed 800 words. The essay must be written specifically for the competition.

The letters shall be accepted until March 19. The results of the competition will be summed up in May. The national round winning letter will be sent to the UPU for further participation in the international round. Every year Belpochta receives about 1,500 letters for the competition.

Over the time that the country has participated in the competition, young people from Belarus have received two gold medals (in 2003 and 2020), two silver medals (2008 and 2010) and one bronze (2009).
