Belarusian workers condemn economic sanctions

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) - It is economic blackmail and violation of the rights of tens of thousands of people. This is how the workers of Belarusian enterprises consider the decision to impose economic sanctions. Belarusian workers expressed their position in an open collective letter to the International Labor Organization, members of the international trade union movement, workers and employers of other countries, BelTA learned from the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB).

The letter stresses that the introduction of sanctions does not meet the requirements of Belarusian workers, as it is presented by representatives from abroad.

“European politicians apparently think that they have the right to limit and infringe on the rights of workers in other countries. It turns out that we must be left without work, without wages. How are we supposed to support our families and educate our children? We call on the workers of other countries to show solidarity and influence their governments, which by applying economic sanctions, in fact, engaged in economic blackmail and violated the principles of international law,” the letter reads

According to the FTUB, from now on, everyone who is interested in keeping the Belarusian economy running, having stable wages and social guarantees for people, can sign the letter.
