MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Maksim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University (BSPU) has made it to the finals of the International Green Gown Awards 2020 in the Student Engagement category with the project “Green Volunteer School: 17 SDGs” which is implemented by the BSPU Green Office resource center, BelTA learned from the press service of the university.
Since February of this year, the resource center has been holding classes about the Sustainable Development Goals for university students. The project helps future teachers learn more about ways to promote the ideas and principles of sustainable development. Classes take the form of business games, mini-conferences, intellectual games, design workshops, discussion lessons, STEAM lessons.
The Student Engagement category also features education institutions from Australia, Austria, Brazil, the UK, Cameroon, Cyprus, Colombia, the USA, Philippines and France. The winners will be announced during the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development on 8 July. The finalists' projects in various categories can be found in the Green Gown Awards 2020 brochure.
The International Green Gown Awards are supported by the UN Environment Programme. Among the goals are to promote sustainable development initiatives, to find leaders in this field, to establish cooperation between universities/colleges, businesses, government and civil society to promote these initiatives.
