Belarusian universities to sign cooperation agreements with Novosibirsk universities

MINSK, 22 January (BelTA) – Mogilev State University of Food Technologies and Maksim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University will sign cooperation agreements with Siberian Trade University and Novosibirsk Pedagogical University respectively, Belarus' Education Minister Igor Karpenko told reporters on 22 January, BelTA has learned.

The documents will be signed during the visit of a Novosibirsk delegation to Belarus on 21-23 January. "These are direct contacts. Thanks to them we can engage not only in a number of joint educational projects but also joint research. We will be able to submit joint applications for grants, for example, under Erasmus + program," Igor Karpenko said.

The Russian delegation is scheduled to visit a number of general secondary education institutions. “Our colleagues will see the way we work with children and young people in he field of public associations and student self-government. We are also interested in many projects, including the joint ones we are going to implement ahead of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. We would like to see our Novosibirsk friends at traditional events: Friendship Without Borders festival which is hosted by Zubrenok children's health center, Light of the Great Victory international meeting at Belarusian State University. In general, our relations are developing quite well. The existing educational legal framework is good enough," Igor Karpenko said.

In turn, Sergei Fedorchuk, Minister of Education of Russia's Novosibirsk Oblast, said: “Many of the events which we are holding today show that children and young people respond positively to our cooperation. They want friendly relations, they want to communicate. In my opinion, by bolstering ties between youth, schools and students, we, being part of the common cultural space, will develop further, will have a future. Young people are our future. They will preserve and develop these relations after us," Sergei Fedorchuk said.

The delegation led by the education minister of Russia's Novosibirsk Oblast will visit Belarusian State University, Belarusian National Technical University, and Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University.
