Belarusian Union of Women, Business Women's Association of Uzbekistan sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian Union of Women and the Business Women's Association of Uzbekistan signed a cooperation agreement during a visit of the Belarusian delegation headed by Deputy Speaker of the Council of the Republic, the head of the Belarusian Union of Women Marianna Shchetkina to Tashkent, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Uzbekistan.

In the Uzbek capital, Belarus' representatives took part in the plenary session of the international conference organized to mark the World Women's Entrepreneurship Day. Marianna Shchetkina made a report on the measures taken in the country to support entrepreneurial initiatives of women, to promote their employment, on the mechanisms of interaction between the state and public associations when creating the conditions for effective development of female entrepreneurship.

In Tashkent, she also met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation Nodir Otazhonov. The parties reviewed the status of implementation of the Belarus-Uzbek agreements reached at the highest level. Attention was drawn to the need to intensify efforts to implement the roadmap for the development of cooperation between the two countries.

The Belarusian delegation held meetings with the minister of innovative development of Uzbekistan, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the speakers of the two houses of the parliament.

Marianna Shchetkina presented the concept of the First Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan that is planned to be held in Minsk in 2019. The parties agreed to choose coordinators from the parliaments of the two countries to prepare for the forum.
