Belarusian school students with COVID-19 to be exempted from final exams

MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – School students who have tested positive for COVID-19 will be exempted from final exams, according to Belarus' Education Ministry's Resolution No.101 of 26 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

“In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the Education Ministry has supplemented the existing rules for the attestation of pupils in general secondary education institutions (Education Ministry's Resolution No.38 of 20 June 2011) with a norm providing for exemption from all final exams for pupils who are self-isolated during the final examination campaign. Corresponding Resolution No. 101 of 26 May was adopted and published on the National Legal Internet Portal,” the press service said.

During the final examination campaign, the urban, district and zonal centers of hygiene and epidemiology will submit to the education departments of the local executive committee lists of students who have an infection caused by COVID-19, as well as those in self-isolation. “The lists will contain information on students to be exempted from final exams. Students will get their annual marks in the certificate on education,” said the ministry.

The Education Ministry added that the school-leaving exams will take place under strict hygiene and distance regulations.
