MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Internal troops of the Internal Affairs Ministry and riot police teams are now armed with strike drones, BelTA learned from Belarusian Internal Affairs Minister Ivan Kubrakov.
Ivan Kubrakov said: “The Internal Affairs Ministry has set up an unmanned aviation division. We've already bought a large number of drones. They are used for various tasks. We've been using them for patrols for a long time. And in 2020 we very actively used drones, particularly in places without CCTV coverage.”
Drones are actively used in park areas, forested areas where it is impossible to drive a vehicle, the internal affairs minister noted.
Ivan Kubrakov said: “Apart from that, the internal troops also have strike drones. We saw how unmanned aerial vehicles are used during combat operations in Ukraine. A drone carrying explosives can damage the enemy's hardware and manpower. This is why the internal troops and riot police teams also have strike drones. We evolve. The Academy of the Internal Affairs Ministry has set up a division that trains drone operators. We tightly cooperate with the Defense Ministry. This area has a lot of promise today.”
