Belarusian police now uses Internet intelligence to counteract economic crimes

MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Internet intelligence is employed for counteracting economic crimes, BelTA learned from Belarusian Internal Affairs Minister Ivan Kubrakov.

Ivan Kubrakov said: “I should mention the new divisions that we are setting up. One of them is Internet intelligence. Virtually any division needs it. Including for counteracting the distribution of narcotics and for counteracting economic crimes. Because corrupt officials are getting more and more sophisticated and operate via the Internet and banks. We move on as well. And we try to be one step ahead.”

In his words, all the branches of the Internal Affairs Ministry are busy introducing new technologies. Close attention is paid to video surveillance systems. For instance, all the shopping centers and public places in Minsk are fitted with CCTV cameras now.
