Belarusian peacekeepers to take part in CSTO exercise in Tajikistan

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) - Unbreakable Brotherhood 2019 joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region and the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization is running at the Harb-Maidon training ground of the Republic of Tajikistan on 21-29 October, BelTA learned from the Defense Ministry.

“Belarusian peacekeepers will take part in the second stage of the exercise - from 24 October. The Blue Helmets will conduct a peacekeeping operation to maintain peace in the region,” the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

The exercise will involve over 600 pieces of weaponry and more than 3,5000 military from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and also the operational group of the CSTO Joint Staff and the Internal Affairs Ministry units.

“The main objective of the joint exercise is to enhance the coherence of military units in carrying out tasks during counter-terrorism and peacekeeping operations by the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces in the Central Asian Region of Collective Security,” the Defense Ministry said.
