Chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus Igor Golub noted that a new academic year had begun in the Belarusian army, all the preparations had been completed, weapons, military and special hardware had been switched to the winter mode. “The 1146th Guards Air Defense Missile Regiment has been performing shakedown exercises through the year as part of squadron-size units. The efforts culminated in a live-fire exercise in the Russian exercise area Ashuluk. The regiment had to deal with very complicated tasks. All kinds of imitators were used to stand in as guided missiles flying nap of the earth, aerial drones, and targets flying on a ballistic trajectory. The regiment performed admirably,” said Igor Golub.

With the regiment now on station, it will protect the air space in the northwestern direction enhancing the national defensive net.

The Belarusian-Russian tactical exercise Union Shield 2019 will be the key event of the next academic year for the Air Force and Air Defense Command. The regiment will soon receive another air defense missile battery Tor-M2, which is already on the way from the Russian manufacturer. Apart from that, the regiment will take part in a number of command post exercises in Belarus under the leadership of Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister Oleg Belokonev. A number of other tactical events will also be arranged to make the regiment even more perfect, said Igor Golub.
