Belarusian doctors honored for their work during pandemic

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) - During the pandemic, Belarusian doctors experienced a lot of emotions: bitterness of losses, and joy of victories, But they never had a feeling of panic and a feeling that they were abandoned, Belarus' Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik said during the ceremony to award healthcare professionals hosted by the head of state, BelTA has learned.

The minister expressed the appreciation for the high appraisal of the work of the healthcare system. “Behind are months of hard work and fight against the spread of coronavirus infection. It was a difficult time that changed the way all healthcare workers work without exception. It was a time when the whole system and every employee were tested for strength," he said. “We experienced a lot of emotions during that time. There was bitterness of losses, and joy of victories. But there was no feeling of panic or a feeling that we would not cope. and the main thing a feeling of being abandoned.”

Vladimir Karanik stressed that healthcare workers felt the support of the society, the state and the country's leadership throughout that difficult period.

Speaking about the main feeling fro, the past difficult period, the minister said that it was pride first of all. “The pride for our coworkers, for the country, for what has been done for the national healthcare system during the years of independence, and for what has helped us to pass this test with honor,” the minister stressed.

He expressed his gratitude for the high awards bestowed upon medical workers and for all those warm words addressed to them. “Thank you for your taking on a huge burden of responsibility, making decisions about the strategy to combat the virus. You believed in us and had no doubt that we would do what others could not. We have come out of this situation more experienced, stronger and ready to further develop the healthcare system for the benefit of a strong and independent Belarus,” the minister told the president.
