Belarusian delegation at Russia-Belarus regional forum to comprise 250 people

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – The official Belarusian delegation at the 6th Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus will comprise 250 people, Vice Speaker of the Council of the Republic Marianna Shchetkina told the media, BelTA has learned.

The Council of the Republic hosted the final session of the organizing committee for the forum on 9 July. The event was attended by the heads of the Culture Ministry, the Information Ministry, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “The official Belarusian delegation has been formed. It will include 250 people,” she said.

The vice speaker outlined the main points of the program. The presidents of Belarus and Russia are expected to attend the plenary session. The panel discussions will address the issues of the common educational, cultural and informational space, humanitarian projects, cooperation of regions and other issues. According to Marianna Shchetkina, the session of experts which will discuss the strategic development of the Union State will be of great interest.

The meeting of national business councils, which will bring together business representatives from both countries, will be an important event. So will be a session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission of the Council of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of Russia. It will take stock of the 5th Forum of Regions which took place in Mogilev and together with representatives of the appropriate agencies will discuss the development of transport capacities and modernization of the infrastructure concerned.

A youth forum and a session of the Youth Chamber Council at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State are on the agenda too.

The 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in St Petersburg on 16-18 July. This year it will focus on interregional relations as a basis for the formation of the single cultural and humanitarian space of Belarus and Russia. Cooperation agreements between regions of the two countries, commercial contracts, other documents on cooperation will be signed during the forum.
