Belarusian BRSM Youth Union, Russia's Victory Volunteers to sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - The Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) and the All-Russian public movement "Victory Volunteers" are set to sign a cooperation agreement in Brest on 21 June, Olesya Sazankova, head of international protocol at the BRSM Central Committee told BelTA.

“In the run-up to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, at the invitation of the BRSM Youth Union, the youth delegations of the all-Russian public movement "Victory Volunteers" and the Russian Youth Union will arrive in Belarus on a friendly visit. The program of the visit is packed. We will take part in the final event of the international campaign "Garden of Remembrance." This project is designed to plant 27 million trees in memory of 27 million people who died in the Great Patriotic War. It started in Russia back in 2020 and was supported by more than 50 countries. It is symbolic that the final event of this campaign will take place in Brest where we will plant a coniferous alley together," Olesya Sazankova said.

One of the central events will be an open dialogue "We remember, we are proud!" with the participation of young people of Belarus and Russia. "The theme of patriotic upbringing, preservation of the historical memory about the heroic feat of the Soviet people, the terrible ordeals our soldiers, partisans, workers of the rear had to go through to win the victory and give us a peaceful sky is very close to Belarusians and Russians. The agreement between the BRSM and the Victory Volunteers movement is designed to preserve the historical truth, to ensure the continuity of generations and the friendship between our peoples. By the way, the Belarusian youth delegation has recently returned from Pskov where they attended the international patriotic forum "We remember!" by the Russian Youth Union where we exchanged experience in implementing patriotic projects and programs," Olesya Sazankova added.

The youth of Belarus and Russia will take part in the opening of the monument "Streets of Brest are named after them," the program "A peaceful evening in Sovietskaya Street”, a commemorative rally dedicated to the Day of the People's Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War, and a military-historical reenactment event "22 June. Brest Fortress.”
