Belarusian, British military to share experience of tactical, engineering training

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Representatives of the Belarusian army and the British one will share their experience of performing elements of tactical and engineering training during the Belarusian-British training session, which is taking place in the exercise area of the 103rd Vitebsk Independent Guards Airborne Brigade, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Belarusian peacekeepers demonstrated to the British colleagues their routine for evacuating the wounded and their firearms training. In the next few days participants of the training session will share their experience of performing elements of tactical and engineering training. An integrated drill will take place in the final stage of the joint training session.

The Defense Ministry's news agency Vayar quoted Timothy Wight-Boycott, Defense Attaché of the UK embassy in Belarus, as saying: “We are very pleased to work together with colleagues from Belarus. I don't doubt that both sides will learn a lot. Mutual understanding in the sphere of peacekeeping is important. I am pleased that Belarusians participate in Cambrian Patrol competitions in our country and always demonstrate only outstanding results. It indicates their excellent training standards.”

BelTA reported earlier that the joint Belarusian-British training session Winter Partisan began in the exercise area Losvido of the 103rd Vitebsk Independent Airborne Brigade on 2 March. The event was organized as part of Belarus-UK cooperation in training peacekeeping personnel. It is particularly topical from the point of view of the plans to expand Belarus' participation in UN peacekeeping efforts. The training session is not part of some multilateral exercise. Such events have been organized together with the British side in the two countries regularly since 2018. As many as 28 soldiers from the 42nd Marine Battalion of the UK armed forces are taking part in the training session. The Belarusian side is represented by the peacekeeping company of the 103rd Independent Guards Airborne Brigade.
