NUCLEAR POWER IN BELARUS AND WORLDWIDE
MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Personnel of the Belarusian border service respond adequately to the provocations that happen at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. But they will respond in force to a threat to security, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anatoly Lappo.
The official said: “We pay attention to provocations and respond to them.”
In particular, unmanned aerial vehicles fly along the border. They sometimes happen to fly into the Belarusian territory. The border service personnel use firearms and shoot down the drones. Damage to the border infrastructure is another way to stage provocations. “The Ukrainian side has unilaterally stopped border demarcation. We continue working. We are placing border markers, building roads and engineering facilities. Who is hindered by a border post? It has our symbols. We will not overlook it either,” Anatoly Lappo said.
Apart from that, “a red-white-red piece of cloth” has been hoisted next to the Ukrainian flag at Ukrainian border crossings. “Why? As a citizen of Belarus, as a military man I see it [the Belarusian state flag] as a symbol of the state. This is the kind of petty tricks, provocations they resort to. We don't react to them but if our security gets threatened, we will respond in full force,” the official said.
Apart from that, there are many unwanted individuals in addition to border service personnel on the other side. “Only border service personnel should be at the border and no one else. Then there will be peace and tranquility at the border. Then there will be no provocations,” the head of the Belarusian border service is convinced.
