GRODNO, 7 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian border checkpoint Berestovitsa on the Belarusian-Polish border will be equipped with an automatic number-plate recognition system, BelTA learned from the Grodno Regional Customs.
The system will be equipped in line with the international technical assistance project “Improving border management operations at Bruzgi and Berestovitsa road checkpoints”. Plans are also in place to purchase personal dash cameras with high video resolution, information storage equipment, digital mobile radios and smart chargers for them. Around €180,000 will be assigned for these purposes.
“Equipping border checkpoint with modern technologies will also make customs procedures more efficient and strengthen security, especially prevent unsanctioned departure of transport from border checkpoints,” the Grodno Regional Customs noted. All the innovations are aimed at making crossing the Belarusian-Polish border faster for haulers and individuals.
