MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarusian army personnel now operate tactical missile systems Iskander on their own, the Belarusian Defense Ministry press service told BelTA.

The mobile short-range ballistic missile systems Iskander are described as the world's best weapon system in this class. The high-precision missile can hit any target up to 500km away. The destructive payload of one missile weighs 0.5 tonne. No air defense systems can intercept the missile.

The Belarusian artillerists completed theoretical studies in Russia and practical training in military training areas in Belarus. The manning details are staffed only with officers, warrant officers, and professional soldiers.
