Belarus viewed as citadel of traditional culture and moral values

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarus is a citadel of traditional culture and moral values, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said when speaking at the 5th Belarusian People's Congress, BelTA has learned.

“Today Belarus is a citadel of traditional culture and moral values. It will always remain so!” Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to the President, a lot has been done in Belarus for the development of culture. “Workers of the cultural sector need to be more proactive, enterprising. They should not rely solely on the government support. Emphasis should be made both on the scope and quality of our cultural sector and enhancing its tourist attractiveness,” he noted.

New works of literature, music, fine arts, theater and cinema should promote the development of values of Belarusian society, and reflect the spiritual experience of the nation. “Our aim is not self-isolation or confrontation to other cultures but interaction and mutual enrichment. I would like to emphasize that the distinctive features of the Belarusian people are mutual respect, opposition to all forms of ethnic hostility. We will continue to support these principles,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
