Belarus, Ukraine theaters sign memorandum of cooperation

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – Director general of Belarus' National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater Vladimir Gridyushko and art director of Kiev National Academic Theater of Operetta Bogdan Strutinsky signed a memorandum of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation on 15 March, BelTA has learned from Maria Konysheva, head of the press center of the Bolshoi Theater.

“The memorandum provides for exchange of soloists and performing groups, organization of tours, joint performances, workshops of leading specialists of the two theaters, as well as participation in music contests and festivals, active exchange of information about the most important events in the musical and theater life of Belarus and Ukraine,” Maria Konysheva said.

Following the signing ceremony, People's Artist of Ukraine Bogdan Strutinsky said that he first visited the Belarusian National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater two years ago during his visit to Minsk. The Open Europa festival in Ukraine which drew 166 theaters of the world provided an opportunity to get acquainted with the administration and artists of the Belarusian theater better.

“We have signed the memorandum which envisages a lot of opportunities to exchange artists' experience, interesting joint projects, and creative development,” Bogdan Strutinsky noted. "We already cooperate with a lot of theaters, for example, in Lithuania, Hungary, Poland and we see that this is always beneficial for us. Kiev National Academic Theater of Operetta organizes such large-scale international festivals as Carpathian Space and O-Fest and we will be happy to see the artists of the Belarusian Bolshoi Theater at our stage,” he added.

Kiev National Academic Theater of Operetta celebrates its 85th anniversary in 2019. It was awarded the title “National” in 2009 for significant contribution to the national spiritual revival and high-quality art. The theater operates several stages. The main stage hosts famous musicals and operettas from the theater's repertoire as well as international concerts.
