Belarus, Ukraine agree on sci-tech cooperation in nuclear energy

MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – Technical support teams of the nuclear and radiation safety watchdogs of Belarus and Ukraine have signed a cooperation agreement, BelTA has learned from the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor).

The agreement on sci-tech cooperation was concluded by the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry and the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine.

The document envisages cooperation across many areas, including radiation safety and protection, nuclear materials management and radioactive waste treatment, safety of information and operation systems of nuclear power plants.

The cooperation agreement will facilitate mutual sci-tech support for decision-makers in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry said.
