Belarus, UAE discuss cooperation in defense industry

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Chairman of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee Roman Golovchenko has met with Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's Armed Forces. The talks took place on the sidelines of the international defense technology expo IDEX 2019 in Abu Dhabi. The crown prince welcomed increasing contacts between Belarus and the UAE in all the areas, including in the defense industry, BelTA learned from Vladimir Lavrenyuk, official representative of the Belarusian State Military Industrial Committee.

During the meeting Roman Golovchenko updated the crown prince on current and promising joint projects in the defense industry. “Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan voiced absolute support for closer cooperation between Belarus and the UAE in all the areas, including the defense industry. The Emirati side also noted that mutual trust between the leaders of Belarus and the UAE and close political partnership between the two countries are highly instrumental for implementing joint projects,” Vladimir Lavrenyuk said.

Apart from that, Roman Golovchenko met with Egypt's State Minister of Military Production Mohamed al Assar and Sudan's Minister of National Defense Ahmed Awad Ibn Auf. The parties discussed cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
