Belarus' trade unions call to investigate all cases of violence

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – It is necessary to investigate every case of violence in a detailed and objective manner, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) Mikhail Orda told journalists, BelTA has learned.

“There were two difficult days – 9 and 10 August. The Federation of Trade Unions has addressed the law enforcement agencies, asking them to look into every case in a careful and objective manner,” Mikhail Orda said. “The minister of internal affairs pledged to investigate all the cases and this work is already underway. I believe that we will be informed about the results of the investigation soon. But we need to do everything in our power to prevent such things from happening again. We need to get to the bottom of every case and give it an objective assessment,” he added.

The trade unions are ready to provide legal assistance to all victims, Mikhail Orda stressed. “We have a legal department and qualified lawyers and we are ready to provide legal assistance to the victims. It does not matter whether a person is a member of a trade union or not. In addition, our primary trade union organizations at enterprises are offering financial support,” he added.
