Belarus to send more peacekeepers to Lebanon as part of UN Interim Force mission

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) - The defense ministries of Belarus and Italy signed a technical agreement on 16 October to increase Belarus' contingent in the UN Interim Force mission in Lebanon, BelTA has learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Defense Minister Oleg Voinov met with a delegation of the Italian Embassy in Belarus headed by Deputy Ambassador Paolo Tonini. The parties signed a technical agreement between the defense ministries of Belarus and Italy to cooperate in the joint participation in the UN Interim Force mission in Lebanon. The agreement envisages an increase in the number of the Belarusian contingent in this mission, the Defense Ministry informed. On behalf of Italy, the agreement was signed by Alfonso Miro, a military attache at the Italian Embassy in Belarus.

The parties also discussed the status and prospects for bilateral military cooperation.
