Belarus to open another border guard station at Ukrainian border

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Belarus will set up another border guard station at its border with Ukraine, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anatoly Lappo on 17 February.

The official said: “This year we will have to set up two more mobile teams and a border guard station in the populated locality of Derazhichi.” In his words, six mobile teams were established in 2019. Once two more units are set up (in Polotsk and Grodno), the matter will be closed for all the territorial divisions of the Belarusian border service.

More than 59 new border sections featuring border roads and no man's land were established in 2019. More than 90km of fences with alarm systems were set up. Alarm systems were extended to cover another 97km of the state border, bringing the total length of the border protected with alarm systems to about 610km.
