MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - The State Border Committee of Belarus is set to deploy additional maneuver teams at the country's border, Chairman of the State Border Committee Anatoly Lappo told the media after the meeting with the Belarusian president held on 2 May to discuss current issues of border security and measures to protect it, BelTA has learned.
"The border is a living organism, and the situation in winter and summer is completely different. In winter the areas are impassable, in spring and summer they become passable," Anatoly Lappo said. "Naturally, the head of state, as commander in chief, is interested in what measures we take."
During the meeting the head of state was updated on the situation at the border, the formation of mobile team and their equipment. "We have one mobile team in the Mozyr detachment (about 300 people). In the light of the current situation we are deploying another mobile team in the Lida direction and keep one more as a reserve in the Brest direction. We may not need them there in autumn. In that case they will be transfered to another direction," the chairman of the State Border Committee said.
"The situation at the border is under control," Anatoly Lappo said.
