Belarus to cut drug registration times

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Belarus is developing measures to reduce the time required to register drugs, Healthcare Minister Valery Malashko told the media before the final board meeting of the Healthcare Ministry, BelTA has learned.

“We should work hard to cut down the number of unregistered drugs that are imported to the country. In this regard the work is underway on a decree to make the registration procedure faster. We need to be more agile and open,” Valery Malashko said.

A number of changes have been added to the regulations governing the procurement procedure to make the process more transparent and understandable for all entities, the minister said.

Approved in August 2018, Decree No. 345 envisages a mechanism of compulsory registration of ceiling selling prices for medicines used to treat cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The mechanism is to be introduced gradually in 2018-2020. Valery Malashko noted that the decree has yielded good results as prices for these drugs have reduced significantly. “We have set the objective to apply the decree to other groups of drugs and medical equipment,” the healthcare minister said.
