Belarus to bolster cooperation with Pakistan in education

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Belarus plans to further develop cooperation with Pakistan in education. The issue was discussed during a visit of head of the department for education activities at the Belarusian State University, Candidate of Political Science Elena Dostanko to Islamabad to attend the international scientific conference “SCO: Future Prospects and Regional Connectivity”, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Pakistan.

In Islamabad, Elena Dostanko met with the deputy chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to convey Belarus' invitation to develop cooperation between the Belarusian State University and the Pakistani government body that supervises the activity of all institutions of higher education in Pakistan and also matters related to the training of Pakistani students abroad. The parties discussed issues related to the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Belarusian State University and the commission, the mutual recognition of documents on higher education.

The Belarusian delegation also held talks with representatives of the Pakistani Center for Global and Strategic Studies, the organizer of the conference. The parties reached agreements to step up scientific cooperation between the Belarusian university and the Pakistani center. Soon these agreements will be reinforced in a memorandum of cooperation.

The parties also agreed to hold in Pakistan in the second half of 2019 a scientific conference to mark 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
