Belarus to attend 146th IPU Assembly

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) - Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Savinykh is expected to take part in the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Manama, Bahrain on 11-15 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The MP is set to participate in the General Debate of the Assembly on “Promoting peaceful coexistence and inclusive societies: Fighting intolerance”, meetings of the IPU Standing Committee on UN Affairs and its Bureau.

Andrei Savinykh will take part in the meeting of the IPU Geopolitical Group Eurasia as well as the Second Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network which is to be held on the sidelines of the Assembly.

The IPU is one of the most authoritative international organizations, founded in 1889, and currently brings together the parliaments of 178 states and 14 associate members. The Parliamentary Assembly has had permanent observer status with the IPU since April 2001.
