Belarus taking part in SCO Film Festival in Qingdao

QINGDAO, 14 June (BelTA-Xinhua) – The Film Festival of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) opened in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China on 13 June.

The festival will feature 55 films (23 films will take part in the competition program) of 12 countries.

Belarus will feature five films at the festival. These are Vyacheslav Nikiforov's Tum Pabi Dum, Elena Turova's Ryzhik in Wonderland, Alexander Anisimov's Footprints on the Water, Andrei Kudinenko's Massacre, and Vera's Sweet Farewell (Aleksandra Butor).

The Belarusian delegation will include representatives of the National Film Studio Belarusfilm, directors, and actors. The Belarusian cinematographers will take part in the official opening ceremony of the film festival, film screenings, presentations of Belarusian films, the cooperation forum and the closing ceremony of the event.

The SCO Film Festival is an important event as part of humanitarian exchanges. It has been organized in coordination with the SCO summit in Qingdao.

The festival envisages the Grand Prix Golden Gull, and also six awards: for the best film, best direction, best script, best male role, best female role and a special jury award. The jury consists of eminent filmmakers of the SCO countries. Natalia Agafonova, a senior associate of the Screen Arts Department of the Kondrat Krapiva Institute of Art History, Ethnography and Folklore, was invited to make part of the SCO Film Festival jury.

The SCO Film Festival winners will be announced during the closing ceremony on 17 June.
