Belarus, Sudan discuss ways to step up cooperation

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - On 15 March, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt with concurrent accreditation to Sudan Sergei Terentyev met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan Dafa'alla Al-Haj Ali, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Egypt.

The parties discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda, including high-level events, as well as ways to step up Belarusian-Sudanese cooperation in promising areas.

The parties reached an agreement on interaction to ensure mutual support of Belarus and Sudan in international organizations.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Sudan were established on 15 July 1999. In October 2019, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Terentyev was appointed head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in the Republic of Sudan on concurrent accreditation. The Embassy of Sudan in Minsk was opened in 2017.

The legal framework of bilateral relations includes 27 international documents.
