MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) has sent a draft agreement on nuclear safety information exchange to the State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate of Lithuania (VATESI), Gosatomnadzor chief Olga Lugovskaya told reporters during the International Forum Atomexpo in Sochi on 15 April, BelTA has learned.
“After long negotiations, we sent another version of our agreement on prompt emergency response and information exchange on nuclear and radiation safety. As far as I understand, our Lithuanian partners are supposed to scrutinize the document and send back their findings saying whether they are ready to sign it,” Olga Lugovskaya said.
In her words, cooperation at the level of Belarusian and Lithuanian nuclear safety watchdogs is continuous. “We try to avoid unnecessary politicization,” the Gosatomnadzor chief said.
