Belarus, Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast to establish information exchange in forestry industry

MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast will sign an agreement on information exchange in the forestry industry, the press service of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry told BelTA after a meeting with the delegation of Sverdlovsk Oblast.

Sverdlovsk Oblast is interested in studying Belarusian experience in forestry and hunting management, Head of Sverdlovsk Oblast Department of Protection, Control, and Regulation of Use of Fauna Aleksandr Kuznetsov said at the meeting in the Forestry Ministry. According to him, Belarus and Sverdlovsk Oblast are almost the same in size. However, Belarus is ahead of Sverdlovsk Oblast in terms of some parameters, for example, wildlife population numbers.

“We seek your experience. We are keen to exchange information with regions and countries we are interested in. Belarus and Sverdlovsk Oblast could annually inform each other about the main results of development in this field. We could sign an appropriate agreement during a return visit of the Forestry Ministry representatives to Sverdlovsk Oblast,” Aleksandr Kuznetsov said.

The Belarusian party supported this proposal. Belarusian specialists in this industry have always had good relations with Russian regions, Belarus First Deputy Forestry Minister Valentin Shatravko noted.

“The Belarusian forestry industry advanced training center admits Russian specialists on a monthly basis. They get familiar with Belarusian forestry practices and visit various forestry enterprises. I try to meet with every group of Russian specialists and answer all their questions,” Valentin Shatravko said.

The delegation of Sverdlovsk Oblast is in Belarus on 21-22 October. Among other things, the delegation took interest in the forestry industry. The delegation met with representatives of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry to discuss hunting policies, forest management, timber harvesting and processing.
