Belarus, Russia to launch information resource about Soviet war memorials

MOSCOW, 17 December (BelTA) – The Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will launch an information resource about memorials to Soviet soldiers situated in Belarus and Russia in 2020, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly following the events of the Youth Chamber that took place in Minsk on 16-17 December.

“The Youth Chamber presented the Digital Star international historical and cultural project celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The project provides for digitizing information about memorials and sites of major battles of the Soviet army in the territory of the Union State,” the press service noted. “The information resource has already been designed and is undergoing testing. The project will be launched in 2020. Members of the Youth Chamber are set to take part in the implementation of this project, promote it, and contribute to compiling information about relevant sites for the resource,” the press service added.

The Youth Chamber also organized the Homeroom About the Union State campaign in 2019. The event was recognized as promising. Members of the Youth Chamber voted unanimously to continue the campaign in 2020.

“Prospects for developing cooperation between the Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus-Russia Union State and the CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly were also on the agenda. Participants of the events supported the idea to advance joint activities and outlined priority tasks in strengthening interparliamentary ties, promoting experience exchange, and providing mutual information support. Plans are in place to draft a cooperation agreement and a plan of cooperation in 2020,” the press service noted.
