MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – The association of universities has been set up between the universities of Russia and Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State University.
The declaration on the activity of the organization was signed by Chairman of the Council of the Rectors of Russia, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichiy and acting Chairman of the National Council of Rectors of Institutions of Higher Education, Rector of the Belarusian State University Andrei Korol. The signing ceremony took place during the plenary session of the 6th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia at the presence of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko.
The association will focus on the development of the common education and sci-tech space of the Union State and will help coordinate cooperation between the institutions of higher education of the two countries in priority areas. The association will serve as a dialogue platform for universities to address issues of joint training of personnel, scientific research, intercultural communication between students.
Major goals for the organization have been determined for 2019-2022. The most important of them are to organize events and develop projects and programs to enhance academic mobility of students, research workers and teachers, consider proposals to improve and harmonize the systems of higher education. The activity of the association envisages the annual Forum of Rectors of Universities of Russia and Belarus.More about Society
