Belarus, Russia review approaches to exchange of information on migration

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - The Ministries of Interior Affairs of Belarus and Russia have reviewed the approaches to the exchange of information on refugees and asylum-seekers, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Interior Affairs.

Russia's Tula played host to a meeting of the interstate interagency working group to develop recommendations on the concerted migration policy. On behalf of Belarus the meeting was attended by Deputy Interior Affairs Minister Nikolai Melchenko, on Russia's behalf by First Deputy Interior Affairs Minister Aleksandr Gorovoy. The meeting was attended by representatives of the government bodies of Belarus and Russia, the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

“The parties agreed on the approaches to sharing the information on refugees and asylum-seekers from third countries. The parties also discussed the issues of further integration of the information resources on migration, reviewed the draft migration policy of the Union State and the status of the plan of action for the period up to 2025. The interaction between the appropriate authorities of Russia and Belarus during the 2nd European Games was also on the agenda.

The parties exchanged the information about the implementation of international and interagency agreements, briefed each other on the amendments in the legislation on migration.
